PUBLIC NOTICE – MEADE COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE – UPDATE TO THE NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SYSTEM

Written by meadecounty. Posted in Government, Updates

Meade County Clerk’s Office writes:
“UPDATE: As we go into our 2nd week on the new motor vehicle system, we are still experiencing some issues but there are fixes being made daily in Frankfort. It is still taking longer to process most transactions. Due to these lengthy processes the Motor Vehicle Department will close at 4:00 each day until further notice. We must do this in order to finish our transactions and be able to reconcile for the close of the day.
We grately appreciate all those who have been so understanding and patient during this transition. We want this system to function properly and efficiently as much as you do. We hope to get there soon.
Thank you!”

PUBLIC NOTICE – MEADE COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING – PROPERTY MAINTENANCE ORDINANCE

Written by meadecounty. Posted in Business, Community, Government, Updates

Meade County has a Property Maintenance Ordinance, and a P&Z Field Representative whose responsibility is to investigate and resolve violations of the ordinance. Voluntary compliance by the violator with-in a stated amount of time, is the prime goal. The Field Representative can offer advice and possible assistance to accomplish the goal. However, when a violator does not bring the property into compliance, a citation (ticket) will be issued, with an associated fine.
Should the violator disagree with the citation, then they may bring their case before the Meade County Property Maintenance Board of Appeals. The Board may take several actions which include, but are not limited to, authorizing more time to bring the property into compliance, maintain/increase the fine.
Should the violator not agree with the Board’s decision, then they may hire a lawyer and appeal to the District Court.

  1. Code Enforcement always attempts contact with property owners. The Field Rep. generally allows at least 14 days, but in most cases 30 days to bring the property into compliance.
  2. The citation states your options and gives instructions if you disagree with the citation.
  3. Property owners who have received citations: Do Not attempt to contact the code enforcement officer who issued the citation. Follow the instructions on the citation.

⦿ Our office went live on the system Wednesday, January 10th to process back logged mail and dealer work.
⦿ There are still many issues with the new system that are waiting for a fix.
⦿ Processing is slow and not all functions are available. Please call the office before arriving to ask if the service you need is available.
⦿ Transfers and renewals are taking longer to process. Expect longer wait times.
⦿ Transactions that are not overdue or due at this time may want to wait until a later date to receive faster service.
⦿ We will not be accepting Passport applications on Friday, January 12th so that all staff can be available to help on the frontline with the motor vehicle back log. This service will resume in the week to follow.
⦿ Please be patient and understanding with the staff as they are adjusting to this new system and dealing with frustrations of limited and slower functionality.
Thank you!
