WHY: Solicit comments from the public about local solid waste companies.

Public Comments: All Meade County citizens are encouraged to bring their questions and concerns to be heard by the solid waste companies so that they might be able to address those both during the work session and their official bids when the bid is put out. Depending on number of people who sign up to speak, there maybe a 3-minute time limit for public comment speakers.

Meade County Recycle Center will start accepting applications for the “Trash for Cash” program, beginning on Friday, March 1st, 2024.
Approved applicants can receive $75 per centerline mile of county roads cleaned. The total dollar amount is determined by the Energy & Environment Cabinet’s Division of Waste Management. “Trash for Cash” programs can provide funding to non-profit groups to collect litter along roadways. The Division has developed the following guidelines for cities or counties that fund “Trash for Cash” programs using the Kentucky Litter Abatement Grant. In order to participate in the program, your organization must be from Meade County, Kentucky and a federally recognized 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit. Completed applications should be returned by Friday, March 15th, 2024.

From the Meade County Clerk’s Office – Notice Of Office Closure:
As things are improving daily, we are still experiencing some challenges with the new motor vehicle system. With that being said, the Meade County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, to attend meetings in Frankfort. This is so that the staff may receive additional training and updated information concerning the new system. We are doing our best to serve each of you and want all the knowledge necessary to do it effectively and efficiently.
We are already seeing smoother waters ahead as we progress forward! We are seeing less issues with renewals, trailers can now be renewed, most transfers are successful without issue.
